Hey, this isn't necessairily a new topic, but a very exciting update. Friday I made an offer on a house we found. The couple was asking for 98,000 and I made a low offer of 82,500, what the hek, they might take it right? Well, I wasn't expecting to hear anything until Monday because the deadline for the sellers to respond was 8 pm Monday. My realtor called me yesterday about 2 pm with a counter offer of 95,000. I thought about it for awhile. My loan is supposed to be for up to 97,500, so I could have taken it, but I didn't. I countered with 90,000 and they were to respond by 5pm on Sunday. She called me back about 9pm last night and said that the sellers would go down to 92,500 and no lower, so I took it! That figure was the exact figure we were wanting, well I would have taken 90,000, but this is the figure we were shooting for. Once we sign everything, it will probably close about the 2nd week in Sept. This house was built in 1988, had a new roof put on in 1995 or 1998, has a huge master bedroom with a jacuzzi tub, 3 other bedrooms and the other bath also has a jacuzzi. We also will have an above ground 4ft pool! Anyway, I am floating on air and still can't believe it. Last year at this time, I was working at Hardee's and applying for teaching jobs and not expecting to get a job that year. About a month later, I was hired. I couldn't believe it then, and I can't believe it now-that I am getting ready to be a home owner, all on my own credit. Anyway, we are still planning to come up in November, but don't know about anytime earlier. Hope to hear from you all soon!

whoops...posted too soon on the other thread.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very happy for you. It does feel good to do it on your own.

Looking forward to meeting you in November. You'll have to bring pictures of the new home. Also remember, if you remodel anything, definetly get some before and after pictures. We missed a few and are regretting it.....but the ones we did get are fun to show to people.....such as the PINK bathroom that we remodeled into a woodsy theme.

later,

We have run into a slight snag with our loan. The mortgage company I am working with is trying to charge an outrageous interest rate which will put my payments through the roof. I am in the process of filling out an application at my bank and hopefully they will give me a better rate. I am not giving up, because I am so close. So if all of you pray for us and think about us, then maybe things will work out. Talk to you all soon.
