Okay, hope you're in a reading mood.......cause here's my trip report and you KNOW I always turn them into a dang novel! LOL So, here it is:
OMG………WHAT A TRIP!!!! Once again, Eureka provided me with one glorious weekend of friends, family and FUN!!!
After spending the night at my cousin’s house, we all got on the road by 5:30 am! We pushed our way through so we could make it to Sherwood Court in time for the (now infamous) Meet & Greet! We got there by 2:30 and as I entered the office I found Nick waiting there! I could hear all the sounds from the back and practically knocked Nick over to get back there to Renate……..she was on her way to the front already and when we finally connected I didn’t think either of us was going to let go!!! Before I knew it there were others coming in and I was making introductions! Then it was time to get settled in and freshened up for the party! We did a quick change (to don our pink attire) and we headed for the deck!
WOW!!! What a party! The food was incredible……….chips, lots of dips, crackers, pretzels, cookies, that yummy black-eyed pea stuff that Denise makes (that’s the technical name for it, ya know), a couple of different kinds of tortilla roll ups, potato salad, veggies, and more dip! And the BRISKET!!!! YUM-MY!!! It was the best! Darci and Joleen……..THANK YOU!! What a treat that was……even if it’s not exactly what you planned! LOL And of course there was Renate’s famous Boobie Cake!!! And oh, did we have fun with that! What a great idea to raffle the nipples! It was so much fun to see just how “creative” some of you folks can be with a nipple! (Um, Denise, I think I’m jealous)
We ate and visited and drank the never ending RenateRitas that just kept being poured into our glasses! I don’t think I saw anyone complain about that! We visited and visited and visited!!!! I met some new friends and sadly, try as I might; I can NOT remember everyone I met this trip! I’m usually pretty good about that, but I really think that I was just having too much fun! However, there is one person that I couldn’t forget even if I wanted to (and I never want to……..not with this guy) Sparky……..you are the pooch with the cootch!!! You were a RIOT in all your pink regalia!!! What a genuine pleasure to meet you! Forgive me if I don’t mention meeting you……..you can do me a favor and remind me that we met though (help an old lady out here)!!!
I also got to meet Rich and Jackie (the Duffers)……..yep, I think they fit right into this little bunch! It was nice to meet you (although we didn’t get to visit much Rich) and Jackie. I did get to talk with Jackie a little bit more.
Angela & Lisa strolled in after a while and I got to talk to them a bit! Really nice meeting you ladies! I wished more people were there for you to meet, but everyone had already started going their own ways by that time………I was even on my way out! I was glad that we got a chance to talk a little more at the festival before we left! What a pleasure…….and I really hope that you come again and we can get to know each other even better!
Even my Carrie got to stop by for a little while on her break! I needed to collect that hug from her and it was worth the wait! I miss you already girl!!! But, I think you already know that! And then near the end of it all Karen and Tom stopped by with little Oscar! He has grown since the last time I saw him! And he’s still cute as a button………oh, and it was nice to see Karen and Tom again too! LOL Seriously………thanks for coming you guys! It really was nice to see you again!
Nita, it was good to see you too! We didn’t get to talk very much though (gee I wonder how that happens?) Hopefully we can get together some time in June when I have a little longer of a stay! Tell that Don that I missed seeing his smiling face this time (although I understand perfectly)! Did he like his hamburger cookie?
A bunch of us ended up going over to Caribe after the M&G and I still haven’t really figured out why? None of us were really hungry! Although I know that I had wanted to check it out since they opened and grabbed the chance! Dawn and I shared some appetizers and they were wonderful! We shared the guacamole and the salsa platter (that is so highly recommended)………yummy stuff! We met a couple of new folks there too! Let’s see………Kesha and Tanesha (I think that’s right) and we had fun talking to them at the bar! Dawn and I ended up giving the rest of our salsa platter to some other diners there (I hate to waste) and we all just had a really good time even though there wasn’t enough room for us all to sit together!
Afterwards we dropped Ann off back at Sherwood……..she was pooped and ready to crash early! We dropped her off and then headed over to the Tradewinds to see the boys! Had to collect as many hugs as I could to keep me happy until the next time! We stayed and visited for a while and Carrie & Aaron stopped in too! We had fun telling stories, talking, and keeping “Pope Watch”!!!! LOL You guys are pretty funny!
Then it was back to Sherwood! It looked pretty quiet there and then Leslie turned in for the night too! Didn’t see hide nor hair of anyone so I parked myself in my favorite spot on the stairs next to my cottage and had a smoke as I looked at the stars (something you don’t get much of in the city)! I reflected on the wonderful feeling that I had inside of me……being with the friends that I have come to love so dearly! It was the warm, fuzzy feeling that I get each time I visit! It can’t be beat! I thought about us as a group….some of us so different from the others……a beautiful blend of people from all over and all walks of life…forming friendships and bonds…..all getting along together and accepting of each other! It was the true meaning of diversity to me! The love was all around us and it was glorious!
That’s all I have for now! It’s time to go home now……it’s been a busy day of “catch up”! I will be back tomorrow with Part II.
