This is way off the Diversity weekend subject but did anyone else see the Eureka episode of Ghost Hunters? They caught a spirit on thermal imaging at the Cresent. That show is so cool. I also have a thing for Dustin (you think he is gay?). THe Eureka Episode just made me want Diversity Weekend to hurry up and get here. From the timer I see it is 14 days away!!

back on june 9th: FIRE AT THE CRESENT!!!
Apparently the roof was struck by lightening this morning.
From what I'm reading on Geekfest, the fire is apparently out now and the damage was not as bad as it could have been.
The really weird thing is that the SCI FI channel is there filming to try to catch some ghosts. Guess the ghosts might not have wanted to be on tv!

I know that Eureka Springs is a very haunted place. Is there a list of places in Eureka with the most paranormal activity? I am very intrested in the paranormal and in the last few years I have discovered and learned to develop my sixth sense. Last year we went into the Basin Hotel. I can't remeber what floor I was on, but I walked into what looked like an old ball room. It feel heavy like I was hit by a brick wall and coldness crept up all around me. Has anyone else had ghostly feelings/experiences in the Basin? Any one else who reads and posts on this board intrested in the paranormal?
Sean
Yes! I have had several ghostly experiences at the Basin. Everytime it's been on the staircase leading from the lobby to the second floor. It's never been hostile or bad. It's always like someone is walking up the steps with me.

I recall our local favorite, Big Gay Timm telling us about GHOSTS when he worked the Spa in the Crescent basement...
Timm is very dramatic and tells a great story...
My favorite was his experience with having to turn on lights and power up the tanning beds ....one morning he discovered the Lights and beds still on, even tho he had shut them down the night before. he opened the door to investigate and the lights and the tanning beds instantly turned off ...the beds were all still hot and one was even heat warped from being on with the cover closed.
he had many interesting stories from his days at the Cresent. How guest in certain rooms would leave in the middle of the night, still in their night clothes...the 3 ladies that talked about their visits in the early 1900 and how they remembered him.

yes I am...me and my daughter go ghost hunting a lot at the crescent..
We have also gone to the grand central and are going to the basin tomorrow
OMG HONEY !
Too many to mention on here. My mother swears they follow me wherever I go..........or maybe I just attract those spooks for some reason. I wrote a WHOLE story on shadowlands.com about 6 years ago on things that had happened to me at one other place I worked. I won't go into here, but I had to call in help.
I met the guys from Ghost Hunters when they were in town, (I kept insisting he was my new boss in Branson).........boy, did I feel stupid when I found out who he really was....it was Jason, the founder of TAPS.
I made one comment to him............I said "you won"t find anything upstairs at the Crescent , you have to be in the basement". He said "normally I won't make a comment, but you are absolutley right!" .
Saw the show........cha ching..........bingo,I was right !
I guess if I started writing notes since I was about 12 years old, I would have one hell of a novel. Do I beleive in the paranormal or ghosts ????
HELL YES !!!!!! (got pics too ) ! My mom says I am sensitive to these things.......she watched me grow up with it. I didn't ask for it.........and I DON'T LIKE IT............but shit happens when you least expect it. I am now 40 and it still freaks the hell out of me. Now, the big QUESTION........why are some people sensitive to these things and some are not ????????????? My biggest question.
Now to tell you all a very big secret........ I still won't sleep in a bed to this day, Too many stories to tell to make you understand that one.
Most people just dont' "Get it". I love my couch.......even though it causes back problems. LOL !
Any suggestions ? how do you shut it off ?

Lita,
Its too bad you're not comfy with this subject and you're supressing your supernatural capacities and abilities.
What have recent discoveries in science and quantum physics taught us?
That its archaic to think that which can percieve with our 5 senses is all there is. There are many demensions we can't percieve or can only partially percieve, and the world as we know it is all illusion, spirit and energy. You've been given a gift to percieve much more of this but you supress it. We've also learned human consciousness is a fundamental component of our world. If we put our consciousness upon something it becomes stronger. Our culture generally doesnt recognise these spiritual realms so they've been diminished. Almost all other cultures have and do cultivate these spiritual realms. As an example, look at Native American Indian cultures. Communicating with their ancestors was and is very important and they view this as naturally as our physical world. We should too.
Why do some have the powers to percieve and others don't? Its like athletic ability, intelligence or even sexuality. Everyone's capacities are different. But its a shame and a waste not to develop your natural talents and abilities.
OK Here's my idea. We need to encourage you to develop these 'supernatural' abilities. I can see it now. You'll become the premiere Eureka spiritual babe. Kinda like this one:
http://www.maryannghostbuster.com/html/news.html
I dont know you well but I've read alot about you and from you on these boards and such and I can just tell you are looking for your dharma...your lot in life. This is it!
Then after you develop your own personal business along these lines you can apply it to Eureka. As EurekaPride already demonstrates, you sure know how to put together special theme weekends for Eureka. OK, Eureka Springs already has a UFO weekend in the Spring and a paranormal reputation with the Crescent and all. Eureka Springs could become the spritual/paranormal capitol of the Midwest.
Eureka Springs is missing the boat! They really need to play up this supernatural theme and you are just the gal to do it for them. EurekaPride is twice a year. You need to launch a paranormal weekend twice a year. Or even better, just like Herman Mo and Octoberfest, Eureka could do a paranormal Halloweenish fest, the entire month of October. Start it with one weekend in Oct next year and then expand it for future years. And I know you'd be just the GhostBusterBabe to put it together.
Don't you all agree?

I bring this up because not only does the TRADEWINDS have ghost stories about some of their rooms  but Lynne is not alone when she does her Tarot readings...ask her about her guides...I found visiting with Lynne and her guides very interesting!
Lynne does not have internet access right now and can not jump on here and visit like she has in the past but you can call her....at the spring DW there was a LONG LINE and many missed out SO CALL HER!!!

Well she does but she has to come up to my house at this point. If anyone needs to get something to Lynne just email it to davidw@powell.net and I will print a hard copy and put it in her mail box. Some day soon I will get the time to make a computer for her and Mark link them back on to the network.
 I got use to the ghosts at the Copa. I did however have to move my office to my house because I couldn't take the "shenanigans" they would pull on me daily. They always wanted me to know they were there. If I would have been watching ghost hunters back when I had it, I would have gladly invited them there to try and debunk everything I had happen to me.
Miss Lynne was even called in to help me, in the very beginning. She then called in a few more friends to try and help out. I had the place blessed twice. Psychic, automatic writers, psychic artists.........name it.....been there done it. My favorite saying became "no touchy" while I would be in the kitchen or the back hallway. Things would fly off shelves, they would call my name (when I was there alone), my shirt would be tugged on in the kitchen, (while I was there alone).......hence me always saying "no touchy" ! I got that from the movie "The Emperors New Groove" . LOL ! Chairs would move across the floor, either late at night, or early in the day when closed. My waitress was grabbed by some unseen hand on her arm when opening for the evening, which made her arm full of ashtrays fly into a guys head. She was about in tears when she came to me in the kitchen and obviously upset. She also saw the figure of a man in the back hallway. Some days you could walk in and the air would be so very heavy, you could actually feel it. It was intense. That is one of the reason I had the place blessed. It would help for a while, but after time went by, I had to do it again. Pics of the ghosts have been sent to me by tourists, and one was even pictured in the Citizen.
This is only one "place" of paranormal things happening. Before that, I had to call in help at a house I lived at. (not to mention the business which sat next to it). LOTS of activity there. Tourists and locals alike would be scared to death at times. I hadn't worked thee a week until it started messing with me. Too many things to go into here.
Where I grew up was haunted, but only a few times would it let others know it was there. It's pretty bad when you are in your late 20's and 30's, and you still run to your mom and dads room because of all of the talking and noise going on at 4:00 in the morning. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT ?   Since I was young, I would wake up, WIDE AWAKE.........just like it was the middle of the day........and I began to realize that is when the shit would start. I guess you could say , I almost felt like a target to them.
I have been slapped out of bed...........4:00 in the morning.
Recently this year, I was at my mom and dads new house . They have an extra bedroom for me and Tammy. I felt safe there for a while. Then a few months ago, I literally woke up wide awake ...........and in the dark felt two hands, one under my my right leg and one under the right side of my back............very cold hands pulling me to the side of the bed. THANK GOD for touch lamps ! I immediatly touched it for the light to come on and I saw nothing. I went to the couch and stayed the rest of the night. I won't sleep in that room to this day. I sleep on their couch. (it frustrates my mother). Within a week after that happened, I went out to visit again, I was sitting on the couch during the day, and "something cold" went straight through me !!! I looked at my mom and told her something just happened. She knew I wasn't making it up. I don't remember ever having "that"happen before. In the next few days , my mother had something strange happen to her. She woke up in the midle of the night and "something" was tugging on her nightgown. It scared her. She has always said she never gets to experience stuff like I do.........when she got a taste of it, she didn't like it.
I have already written half a book on this thread, and there is so much more I could tell, but now you know a small sample of "some" of the things I have had happen to me. Now ya know why I like my couch :D   !!!

OK. That does it. This is just too cool to pass up.
Lita,
You are just leary of the unknown. You really need to develop these capacities of yours and i've decided we are just the group to help you along on this learning adventure. I'm sure you have spitrual guides that want to help you. You just need to understand whats going on, know they are harmless and get more comfy with whats happening and whats possible. You have doorways to open and move through. Oh wait...maybe i shouldn't have used the doorway analogy with this group.
OK here's what we need to do. We'll just do this sequentially. A good first step would be a seance. Lets talk about it DW. We should approach it with a very reverent attitude, the right group, the right place and the right time. Lets get one scheduled. Do you think we could do one at the Tiki? The Crescent?
http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/seance/seance.html
I'm serious about this (ok so ignore the duck with the swamee hat) Are you game? I honestly think we could evoke some results.
I'll schedule a session with Lynne to see what she thinks would be the best time and place.
"I learned early that the richness of life is adventure. Adventure calls on all faculties of mind and spirit. It develops self-reliance & independence. Life then teems with excitement. But man is not ready for adventure unless he is rid of fear. For fear confines him and limits his scope. He stays tethered by strings of doubt and indecision and has only a small narrow world to explore."~ William O Douglas
Lynne is the first one who told me I had a gift for this stuff, she knows about it. The automatic writer was the second to tell me "I have it".
Lynne was with me on the occasions at the Copa, when I had it blessed.
She does my readings and she has yet to be wrong. She is amazing. (be sure and take pencil and paper with you if you get a reading, she gives so much info and also time frames as to when what will happen).
Seance ? That's kind of like opening up something you might not know what you are dealing with???......speaking for myself. The ghosts of the Copa (TIKI) all know me. Ya never know, maybe they might miss me and show up. They are fiesty, but I am more familiar with them than I would be at the Crescent.
Kind of like messing with a Quiji board............I have never heard ANYTHING good about them. Seances......I am not sure. Mike at the Tiki told me, he never beleived in that kind of stuff until he started working there. He is a true beleiver now.
ok........I guess I am now in "Paranormal 101" ! LOL ! 8)
Hell, I should get it over with and write a book. (I have thought about it many times).

I seem to recall Timm telling me a story about a ouija board with Miss Becky (from geekfest) and her daughter Leslie.
I may not have the story correct but it seems he said It was snowy night and the decision was made not to drive down the hill but to spend the night at the Crescent hotel where Becky and Timm worked....
They camped out on the fourth floor and started their Ouija board talking with the spirits. They laid pennies around the room and in the window sills because they recalled hearing spirits could move a penny.. maybe because of the copper who knows...
Contact was made with a young girl... Over and over they would ask her for her name and she would only reply with spelling out the number two.
The girl kept on saying she was scared. further questioning and it was determined she was afraid of dr. when they questioned who dr was she would answer with spelling out five.
Finally Becky wanted munchies so the three of them headed to the lobby for popcorn.
NOW FOR THE FREAKY STUFF....when they headed back to the room they stepped onto the elevator and just as the doors closed they all saw the penny on the elevator floor and then as they looked up ...there on the elevator wall was was an old proof photograph of a crowd taken at the Crescent. In the photo was Doctor (the dr) Baker and a large white number 5 under his feet and in the same photo was a little girl with a large white number 2 under her feet!

Lita has failed to mention the SPOOKIEST tales of all. When I first moved to Eureka I was drawn to the New Orleans Hotel's bar. OK, I'm a barfly. But I got to hear stories of Lita's encounters many months before actually meeting Lita. I like the story of Mike Nichols and Lita meeting Mark, the guy who died in the elevator. The New Orleans is not as famous as the Crescent, but just as haunted.
I stayed in the 50's room at the Tradewinds. That's my favorite place to go motel camping. I looked at the floor and it appeared to have about an inch of water covering dry carpet.
I have these 2 huge spirit bouncers around me constantly so don't have the kind of experiences that Lita does. She had this one ghost named Shorty who loved to play jokes like balancing a chair on the edge of a step and flinging lids in the kitchen.
