From the New York Times.....“The big gay Meccas used to be Provincetown, Palm Springs and Southern Florida, period,” said Scott Coatsworth, who has operated an online guide to gay-owned inns, PurpleRoofs.com, since 1998. “Over the last few years, though, we’ve seen several other up-and-coming destinations develop — most notably Ogunquit in Maine, the Saugatuck area in Michigan, Eureka Springs in Arkansas, and Guerneville, Calif. Many of these places have historically been gay friendly, but they’ve become more widely known in the last few years, in large part because of the Internet.” 8)

Ok that is too cool! Interesting to see the NY Times do a story like that and then for ES to make it is great.

Nice to see that the NYT doesn't totally forget about those of us here in "flyover" country.

With a comment like that I'd almost believe our ever mischeivous Doc had been to NY and did some deeds that got printed in the NYT. Love you Doc, but it was left open.

New York City
wonder if all those late nights in the chat rooms with those NY boyz paid off
I laid enough banjo and pig squealing humor out their to peak the interest of more then one of those big city boyz
I teased many to check out how we don't wear shoes and explained how
most Ozark girls can out run their brothers and that's
why we have more virgins then Texas  those slow running
boyz AINT all that dumb

:D Absolutely loved the article! I have a question-for those of you who are GLBT-do you enjoy seeing hetero couples kiss outdoors? I don't, but I don't say they shouldn't have the right to kiss. I usually turn my head towards Lisa and say,"OOOOOhhhh, there's straight people," and then we laugh privately. Don't get me wrong, we are tolerant of all people, it's just that some people think they have more rights than others and think there way is the only way-NOT!!
Good job, Sparky!!

"I loved the story, short tho it might be.".....There is a link to the entire story for your enjoyment Missy Mouse.

By the by, I've always been a "sweet young virgin"! Redneck Grannys can't get away with that but pinkneck Grandpys can. Ifin you don't believe me, ask all the names in my little black book. Well, it's not so little.

That will give you reference on how I, me, of all people, became a "sweet young virgin". I still milk it, what Sparky giveth should be ridden 'til it drops. And Mousey, you would not believe where that ride has taken me. But we shant go into details, that might be considered "nose rubbing". Not your nose of course, noses of others who like to sniff around then complain about the scent.

While on the subject of that old thread....."I have met this Good Looking- Charming -Irish -Stud. So has Alvin from Byrdseye View." So Spark, is there a follow up there? I'm a Mick too, potato heads wanna know.

That "good looking, charming Irish stud" was, I'm embarrased to say, me. Sparky was being beyond generous in his description of a first-time visitor to ES (and, as of next month, a full-time resident--see where flattery gets you?). I'll cop to being of Irish extraction and I can be charming, but that's as far as I'm willing to go. In a couple of weeks, I'll be there in person and you'll see Spark's exaggeration personified.

Sparky: Wish I was there now to lend you a hand, but from this distance, all I can do is send positive energy.--Michael Walsh

Sparky........when I told my husband I had finally come "out of the closet", you could have cut the silence with a knife!!!!
In our nearly 30 years, THAT had to be one of the funniest moments of our life together!!! THANK YOU!!

NOW, what kind of "special" can I get from you.....
