Hi there!
I attended my first DW this summer, stayed at the Wagner Inn with the bears and had a blast!
Does anyone know where the Bears are staying this time? We need to book soon because I know many places are filling up fast.
Thanks!

Summer Diversity Weekend was a first and was the result of the DIVERSITY BEARS requesting a summer time date for the Diversity Bears Contest...Something about the Spring & Fall dates being to close to other
aready well established BEAR events and of course wanting the warmer weather.
There is no BEAR specific place or the great BEAR DISCOUNT that the Wagner gave back in the summer
i do know that the James and Shon from Pink Spectrum will be at The wagner
ALSO...
Bobaloo will be BACK  and preforming at one of the BEARs' Favorite Clubs...The Lumberyard Bar & Grill :D do not know where
Bobaloo is staying

Thanks, Sparky! Much Appreciated
I will post where we decided to book when we actually decide (LOL)
Would like to try something new this time as well. Have stayed at Rogue's Manor and Wagner in the past... Enjoyed both. We have a little extra $$ this time (been saving) so at least we have more options (and can maybe go a little fancier if we find the right place. HAHA!)

Their rooms DO look nice! That may be a thought...
I really liked the social aspect of Wagner, where everyone hung out by the pool, even late, and just chit-chatted over some beers. Would like a place with that kind of atmosphere as well... a nice common area to hang out and meet people (besides the bars, haha).

That's what a hair lip dog says.
Now just hold on to me tally whacker here. I tried to find out what was going on with diversity bears. I checked the websites, nothing. I emailed and called and no one knew nothing. Deb, (I think was the name) who replied, said just check back again.....and so I finally gave up. I would love to go but I wanted to go where the bears are. Kevin is supposed to get the tickets that Matt and Veronica won for lodging at the queer pfactor but they never brought them in. My Joe says he doesn't want to go and I am not going to bug him about it. He doesn't want to do anything. So if Kevin gets the tickets and doesn't have a travel partner and I can swing it with the help here I may go with him.
Whew!
HUGZ!

so i have a question, and it may or may not be appropriate to ask - but all of my friends know that i say exactly what i think; so if i offend please forgive me ...
do bears in general not like women? i mean as friends of course, or just in general. a friend of mine while visiting summer dw experienced some non-friendly behaviour by bears towards herself as a woman this year. so i was curious as to the mindset.

No offense taken by me at least... As far as I know, no, there is no general disliking of women in my experience, but I can't speak for others. There are jerks in all communities/groups, but I've got plenty of women friends. I DO tend to hang out with mostly men, though, now that I think about it. When I get together with friends to go to a movie, to a restaurant for dinner, etc, it does tend to be with other men/bears/cubs, but it's not a conscious effort or anything.
I'm sorry your friend dealt with some rude people, but I hope she doesn't judge ALL "bears" by those that were not-so-nice... We're not all bad. Haha!

the experience she had left her with the thought/taste that it was this way for all bears in general - to hate women. that's basically what they told her. i tried to tell her i couldn't imagine this, but she said i wasn't there.
so i'm glad to know that it is not a unspoken rule (ha) ...
hope to meet you this fall.

Well, I was going to say, hopefully in my bed but that is being selfish. If it were me, I'd book the Eureka House. A whole house for the price of a suite. Top notch lodging that can sleep many. Just the idea of a whole house full of bears and cubs in one place makes me dizzy. Excuse me while I swoon.

LOL! Gaylord, make room! Hehe...
Well even if the Eureka House was available, there are only 2 of us so no need for anything big. I think we are going to look into the Lookout Lodge... Gonna make reservations sometime today. Life's been hectic the last few days and haven't had time to think, let alone, actually make some phone calls...

Okey-dokey by me. My bed sleeps 8 and my apartment sleeps 28. (For roaming priveledges by the Landlord, don't ya know.)

We finally booked a place...
I noticed on diversitypride.com that they had posted some more places under the "Other Diversity Friendly Lodging" and we ended up booking one of the rooms in the Harken Building. Seems like a great location and the rooms on their site look really nice!
So it's official, we are comin up for Diversity Weekend! WOOHOO!

Well, we aren't staying in the Harken Building anymore . . .
You can read about it here:

We are now staying in Rogue's Manor again (I really like that place!)
