For those of you who wern't in town or don't read Geekfest, the parade in town over the weekend was a major flop. There were some good things, but from what I've heard it was very weak considering what a parade is normally which left me to thinking. If we did an unoffical parade again think of all the color and fun we'd have. Queens and kings in trucks waving to the crowds, rainbow flags.

I know it was done once before and I really don't know how it turned out, but why not show the city and the CAPC (and all those who are opposed to DW (check out Cyber's World II for more details) just how big of a force we are in town. It could even be done on Friday afternoon before the meet and greet or Saturday morning before the bike run and shows. That'd give free advertising to the shows in town, a chance for the bikers to get the bikes warmed up before the run, and the rest of another chance to have some fun.

Maybe, just maybe we could get our the mayor candidate who comes on the board to talk to us to join in. Just an idea, but what do you think?

oh yes, PLEASE, a parade! As out-of-stater's coming back to ES specifically for Diversity Weekend, I think a parade is a perfect idea. And for all the reasons you mentioned. I don't usually like to poke my nose into other's business, but by reading posts, I was sad to learn of the rift that exists in an otherwise lovely town. In situations like this, I always try (try) to be the better person. Let's give to those who cannot embrace the absolute richness of culture that diversity brings to a community, and to those who can, a warm, fun, happy, joyful, and friendly parade. You know the town will turn out among the throngs of local and visiting "family". I pledge to bring and carry a sign which reads "One love, One world"

my .02, respectfully submitted,

Geez, I just followed the link to the "article" that was printed in the not-paper. Here's another visitor who knows where NOT to shop. All the more reason for a chipper parade, I say! Blah
