CAN “ANOTHER GAY MOVIE” GET ANY GAYER?

Amos Lassen and Cinema Pride

For those of you have seen TLA Releasing’s “Another Gay Movie” let me tell you that until you seen the extras on the DVD, you have not seen “the gayest movie ever made”. As raunchy and as full of cliché the movie is, the extras are that much more I actually think I laughed more during the deleted scenes than I did during the entire movie. There is something to say for raunch and “Another Gay Movie” seems to say it all.
One of the deleted scenes that made it the DVD was the one with Mink Stole (of John Water’s fame) in the bathroom of a gay bar. This has to be the most irreverent scene ever filmed yet you can’t help but laugh until it hurts. Several other deleted scenes are as raunchy and as much fun and I can guarantee that you will be laughing. The final take of the deleted scenes is one of the strangest and most hilarious things I have ever seen and the price o the disc is indeed worth while with the inclusion of these scenes.
Another group of very funny bonuses on the DVD is the staged reading of the script which took place some eleven months before actual filming began. The flatulence scene was one of the funniest things I ever seen and it made the gas passing episode in “Blazing Saddles” (which has been the classic until “Another Gay Movie’ came out) pales in comparison. I guess all is well with the world when we can laugh uproariously at the sound of farts being expelled. In fact the entire staged reading of the script is a joy and is great to have around the house when you have a down day. It will raise your spirits to n end.
There is also a great question and answer section which took place during the Tribeca Film Festival where the film had its world premiere and an audio commentary that explains every aspect of the film. Here Michael Cabonaro (the star) and Todd Stevens (the co-writer and director) answer questions about the film. Their enthusiasm about the film is amazing.
Nancy Sinatra stars in the short about the making of the theme song “Another Gay Sunshine Day” and it is a pleasure to see her looking so good and the way she interprets the song. Finally there is a hysterical if slightly monotonous featurette with Grandpa Muffler as he tries to get the line “Nico, f*** that ass”. It goes on for a good six minutes and the more I listened the more I laughed.
The extras taken with the movie together are an ideal satirical look at what is going on in gay life today. If you need a laugh or just a chuckle, make sure you get the DVD of “Another Gay Movie”.
