OMG, that's gonna happen to me! I'm one of those guys who walks into someone's house, notices the pictures aren't level, squirms for a while and then just HAS to straighten them. Am I the only one who notices crooked wall art or do they just push 'em off kilter before I show up just to watch me squirm??

Hello to all. I'm new to posting but a veteran to Diversity Weekends in Eureka. It's been a while since I've attended but have always looked forward to returning. I have met some wonderful folks during DW and hope to visit with them again. I plan to be there for 2007 Spring DW and will bring a newbie. I'm disappointed though, that it is now Mid Feb. and I can't tell him what will be going on that weekend. It's difficult to get someone interested without giving explicit details of the events that they will experience. I can tell of my experiences but we all know that each event is not the same. MY POINT. Can't there be some concrete plans in place in advance. I mean several months in advance so that long distance travelers can make the appropriate plans to take off work and make their hotel reservations. I'd hate to think that this Spring DW will not present the abundance of activites that the Fall and Summer events bring. I've checked all the websites and they all advise "more details soon". No offense, but can we get it together and plan this like a professional event rather than a block party? You have people coming from far, far away and they may have just heard about it from a friend. Imagine the results if the websites gave specific details of the upcoming events rather than focus on past events. UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE. Please dont take this offensively. I just wanted to give an objective opinion from someone that is not in the circle. Most of you may know what will be going on that weekend, but from someone that has searched the websites, I haven't got a clue. (I know, I know....that wouldn't be the first time!)

Thunder, I don't think anyone will take offense from your post. Your questions/comments are reasonable.
If I may....as an outsider...... add a few thoughts;
A lot of what happens at DWs is not finalized until a few days or weeks before the event. Some of the entertainment can't be planned too far in advance, due to scheduling conflicts, etc.
There are a number of goodies that take place at EVERY DW. (welcoming and/or "kickoff" parties, drag shows, dances, so forth...venues and times may change, but they're always sometime during DW)
Part of the beauty of the whole affair is "whatever happens, happens!" That's MY take on it, anyway.
Something else to keep in mind is that a LOT of what is done during DWs is by volunteers. Sparky is one person who does immeasurable work for DWs, and gets nothing more than a warm fuzzy for all of his work. And maybe some Hot Doorway Sex (HDS) if he's lucky.
Also, it's my understanding that DW used to be only one time a year - now it's 4 times. That stretches the volunteerism to the nth degree.
If you come back to this bulletin board often, you WILL see updates on events. I promise you!!
If I'm able to come to the next DW, I'll buy you a drink!

We can never get specific times out or even usually who's performing where because we never know. Some of the venues literally wait till the last minute. Last summer we had to get a benefit show together five days before it happened. We do our best to know in advance, but sometimes it's impossible for us. I agree with Yip the great thing is what happens happens.

would the BIKERS like to have more social events?
Like a brunch at a local restaurant?
http://bestsmileys.com/cars/21.gif THEY need some charity ideas and any feedback to make the
Diversity Bikers event even better. Also, if you know of any groups we should invite, please let us know or just spread the word.
The Spring Diversity Weekend is coinciding with the UFO
Conference
in Eureka Springs. You can imagine how fun this is going to be.
Looking forward to hearing from you.http://bestsmileys.com/cars/21.gifhttp://bestsmileys.com/cars/19.gifhttp://bestsmileys.com/cars/20.gifhttp://bestsmileys.com/cars/21.gif

:D I still have my fingers crossed for Ashley McBryde. Fatima, if you are watching the boards, do you have an update, yet? I don't know if anyone can get to Memphis or not(I probably won't be), but on Feb 24th, Ashley will be at One More. Anyway, I think I heard that there will be karaoke and dancing at the Lumberyard on Fri as well.

Sounds promising and diverse. There could be NON-stop fun when both groups mingle.
While never visited, I believe staunchly in life elsewhere.
Sitting at a camp fire listening to stories and relaxing. Meeting new people.
Outfitted in a welder's helmet, colander, and rubber soled boots, I'll moved unnoticed through the city. 8)
