So,
Here we are, scant days away from Thanksgiving.
I am so tired of regular Broccoli cheese rice casserole I could SPIT (if I still did such things).
;) ... What are your family's favorite sides ? do you have any interesting takes on standards like Mac and cheese? Veggies? Breads or rolls? appetizers or desserts? I am on the roster as making a scratch chocolate cake you poke holes in the top and pour hot icing into. It gradually hardens and becomes very sweet and chocolatey. That's cool but i I make it every year.
what's a hit at your house?

This will be Delana and I's first Thanksgiving to actually make something and take it somewhere. If I don't have to work usually, the family cooked it all. But this year with my Grandma's passing there's one home we'll have to take food to. I've got a huge pork loin in the freezer. I'll take ideas there.

If anyone has a party my mom always made a Christmas punch (could go anytime of year. She filled a crock pot with Red hots and apple cider and let it brew until the Red Hots disappeared.

We're pretty traditional at our house.
Same old turkey.
Same old side dishes.
Same old relatives getting drunk and falling down.
Same old policemen coming to the house.
Same old bail bond.

Gotta love tradition.

Yip,
It's like the Walton's - but with lots of Moonshine and attractive cousins.

It's not Thanksgiving unless there's oyster casserole!

Mmmmmm.... oyster casserole?

Here, it's shrimp cocktail. Herb stuffing with sauteed celery & onion. Mashed potatoes. Sweet potatoes. A little something green (preferably, green beans al dente with lite lemon butter but, this year... broccoli...because Hart's made the inexplicable decision to ration green beans.)

Then there's the rule: "It's all about the condiments." A panoply of pickles, peppers, olives and crisp vegetables.

In our family, the only major war is over cranberry sauce. I like whole berries. Everybody else likes cranberry-jello that's shaped like a can. Go figure.

Pumpkin pie for dessert, usually, but rumor has it... Scooter is bringing bread pudding as well.

Oink.

Since my mom and Dad are away this year and I didn't have any other "Family" close I am cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for the Bar I Host Drag in. I bought an 18 pound Turkey and a 15 pound Ham, we put a sign up list for side dishes. I personally think we should just offer shots of Wild Turkey and have a liquid dinner!!!!!!

I would like to offer you all a huge helping of love for Thanksgiving. in the Last year I have been so lucky to have met some of the most wonderful people from my trips to Eureka Springs. And that is something I am truely thankful for.

I always have to make corn and rice casserole for my dad, and crab salad for my son.

Everything sounds so yummy -- I am getting hungry!!

Those of you who know me, know I do not cook!

My job is to bring the pies. My sister insisted on Tippins pies from Reasors. She better be happy. I paid $30 for two pies yesterday and they aren't even big pies! Damn it!

I told her I am eating $30 worth of turkey, potatoes, stuffing and all the other stuff to make up for it!
