Eureka En Femme No More.

It is with deep sadness that after 14 events we must inform everyone that there will no longer be an En Femme Getaway. The cost of the hotel rooms has increased so much that it is no longer economical to continue the event as it once was. As well, the time involved in organizing an event of this caliber over the last 7 years has taken it’s toll on my personal health.

We have truly enjoyed the time we had to spend with all the wonderful friends we have made at the event as well as online, and thank each and everyone of you for the support you have given that made the En Femme Getaway the success it became.

We are considering the possibility of a “En Femme Getaway Reunion” once a year. It will basically be the chance for everyone to get together again, but all the organization (hotel & meals) would be each persons own responsibility. I think this is a loss to Eureka Springs. I've written to the En Femmes encouraging them to look for less expensive hotel accommodations or package deals. Maybe if some of our lodging owners contacted them they could be persuaded to come back. Pride board members could also post messages of support and encouragement so that the group is aware we appreciate them.

i personally talked to Dixie,she said for health reasons the getaway has been cut to once a yr and that there will be a cd weekend this yr,

Yes, the are having the same weekend as Diversity Weekend or Halloweeen Weekend. I am glad they are at least having it. It will be great that it will be during the DW too.

There is a "Getaway Reunion" that will take place this week in Eureka. However, since this is the same weekend as Diversity, it will be special since the "straight gurls" and their female at birth partners might get to know the greater GLBT in Eureka and vice versa. And yes, I will be there.
