“Chris and John Road Trip”

January on Here! TV

Amos Lassen

Chris and John are two cute young gay men whose Canadian TV series “Chris and John Road Trip” will be broadcast beginning in January on Here! TV. It’s a combination of great fun and travelogue.
I recently received screeners of the first three episodes and I figured that they were not going to be what I usually like to watch. I made a cup of coffee and put the DVD on and I was very surprised to see how quickly I was roped into the shows and found myself enjoying every minute. The boys are not only cute to look at but they are sassy and suave and I love they way they refer to everyone they see as “dear”. The two young men have been friends for twelve years (whether they are romantically involved I don’t know) and they decide to take a six week road trip. Each episode is a half-hour long.
The first episode takes them (and us) to Erie, Pennsylvania to the Erie Pride Picnic. After stirring up the crowd, they decide that they need to be useful so they agree to play matchmakers and what ensues is pure fun to watch.
Episode two is London Pride. Now this is not London, England but London, Ontario. Here they meet Sheila who is in charge of organizing and running the London Pride Fashion Show. It seems that the show is short two dancers and yep, Chris and John fill in.
Episode three takes us to “The Cedars’, a GBT camp ground in Canada and the boys and us arrive just in time to get involved in the “Miss Cedars” contest.
The guys have a knack for getting involved in almost everything and turning uneventful situations into major events. We could all take a few lessons from them.
